Here, Sair Khan, 32, who plays Alya, tells us more...

As Yasmeen’s trial draws to a close, how confident is Alya that her gran will be freed?

She definitely doesn’t think it’s a sure bet; everything is up in the air. Geoff is very cocksure and convinced that things are going to go his way, and sometimes that gets in Alya’s head. It’s a very tense period of time.

If Yasmeen is found not guilty, would Alya still believe that justice hasn’t been served?

Absolutely. The trial has been to establish whether Yasmeen tried to murder Geoff. There are no criminal proceedings being pursued against Geoff, and people know that he has been cheating the system, cheating them, stealing money, lying, and lining up his next victim.
