Winter is the toughest season for Britain’s wildlife and for those living and working in the countryside, but it’s also one of the most dynamic.

This week’s glorious Countryfile special sees Matt Baker and the team explore the trials and the joys the drop in temperature brings.

‘This is a real celebration of winter,’ says Rebecca Hanmer, the show’s producer, as she chats to TV Times. ‘It is a challenging time because of the weather and we had plenty of snow during filming, but although it’s easy to hunker down and close our doors, we show that if you get out and embrace it, winter has a huge amount to offer.’
