The 15th IVY League Meeting was held on April 14, 2017, at the Mayfair Banquet Hall, Worli, Mumbai. Mr Robert Lobo, Co-founder of Shopping App See n Pick spoke on “Digital Revolution - Opportunity for Brands” and Mr Nimish Dave, Founder and CEO of The Idea Smith, shared his thoughts on “Operational Excellence through Lean Transformation.”
Speaking to Apparel about the topics for the evening, IVY League President Mr Naveen Sainani, said, “The whole market environment is changing in a big way. Brands need to change their marketing tactics accordingly. Today, we have to think digital because the online buying trend has changed the whole buying scenario. So, our focus is to see how we can facilitate the brands to sell in the MBO market which is our core business. Being on the digital platform will certainly increase our visibility and growth.
The second discourse is about LEAN management which will help the manufacturers to understand how to increase their productivity and bring about growth in business with the implementation of LEAN principles.”
EQUIPPING BUSINESS DIGITALLY
Mr Lobo, the first speaker for the evening, who was earlier associated with renowned brands during his tenure as President, Raymond Ltd and CEO, Morarjee Brembana Ltd. Mr Lobo hung up his boots and bid adieu to the corporate world to co-create a shopping app, ‘See n pick’. Taking on the stage with his team, Mr Lobo laid emphasis on the importance of digitalisation of brands in today’s world, where anything and everything is online.
Speaking about the changing times, Mr Lobo asked, “If we were to build a brand today, will we do it the same way we did five years back? Certainly not, because things have changed. Five years back when we made plans for brand development we did not contemplate the digital growth that was about to take place. But today, in India, digital technology is fast growing and it has put us on the world map.”
