The record label — the brainchild of Jackson Wang — made its foray into fashion last year. Now the multi-hyphenate along with the CEO and co-founder of Team Wang Design, reveal how it all ties back to an ambitious vision

Team Wang Strives For The Seemingly Impossible

Jackson Wang has 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year, but his achievements in the past three years seem to suggest a time bending ability of sorts. He continues to make global headway with his solo music career, producing and performing, but also gets involved in directing his music videos — preferring to keep all multimedia that transpires from his music under his direct purview. Now, how much time does that leave him with?

Enough to launch a clothing and lifestyle label, apparently. Mid last year, Team Wang Design entered the streetwear fray with a modest design proposition, but a grand purpose. With a range of black garments comprising a tee, hoodie, sweat pants and a vest amongst other casualwear mainstays, emblazoned with “Team Wang” on the front and rear, Wang was trying to accomplish at least two things. To connect with his audience through the values he believes in, and to inspire people with his ambition and vision to write his own history through a medium that was not music.

The clothes are just one component of the modular universe he’s building for Team Wang. It’s informed his decision to name the label’s first collection — and subsequently, each drop to come — Cookies, derived from the fact that these garments are but a tidbit of the entire Team Wang experience. And he isn’t alone in this undertaking.
