Ready to embrace the next stage of her life, LARAWORTHINGTON pensa personal letter as she sets her sights on whats to come
MUCH HAS BEEN MADE OF LARA WORTHINGTON’S PAST . . .
From high-profile relationships (and break-ups) to reality TV shows and ad campaigns that just won’t quit, the Australian star with that megawatt smile has claimed her fair share of headlines over the past decade or so. More recently, though, Worthington has chosen to pursue an increasingly private and laidback lifestyle. Reclusive, even.
Happily married to actor and fellow Aussie Sam Worthington and mother to sons Rocket, three, and Racer, just two, the model and beauty entrepreneur has relocated her family from busy New York City to the more relaxed Los Angeles while her husband films back-to-back sequels of the James Cameron juggernaut Avatar. “The weather is a big factor, and the space,” she explains of the decision to make the move with a young family. “Kids need to run around and have room to exhaust themselves. New York can be limiting in that sense with apartment living. The cold months are long, and the snow used to wear me out.” Having grown up in Cronulla, in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, Worthington says LA feels much more like home. Plus, it’s great for little ones. “Being outdoors more in the sunshine, weekends by the water…[the] life of a kid is excellent! They love it here,” she adds with a smile.
Just as her children’s worlds are expanding in their sunny new surroundings, Worthington is having a similar awakening. “My views on many things are developing, especially within the realms of what I would like to put out there into the world, and what good I can do with the voice that I have,” she explains. “I love watching my children grow and develop into their own personalities. It’s challenging, but very fun—I learn a lot [about] myself through them.”
