Career Our Secrets To Success

When the world fell apart in 2020, it was women who joined forces to pick up the broken pieces. We wanted to celebrate that, so in December marie claire teamed up with Bumble to present the first online Glass Ceiling Series event, called “The Pivot. The Purpose. The Powerhouse.” Hosted by Jan Fran, panellists Dannii Minogue, Brooke Boney and Lucille McCart shared with a virtual audience their stories of resilience and positivity. Here’s what we learnt.

THE POWER HOUSE

Dannii Minogue

SINGER, DESIGNER & TELEVISION HOST

JAN FRAN: We need to congratulate you and everyone in Melbourne on surviving one of the world’s toughest lockdowns. How did you cope with home-schooling your 10-year-old son, Ethan, and the COVID-19 outbreak on the set of The Masked Singer?

DANNII MINOGUE: I just had to jump in and do my best. I watched a lot of YouTube tutorials. I know now I do not want to be a teacher – hats offto all the teachers out there. It is such a hard job just with one [kid], let alone a classroom full of them. When the COVID outbreak happened in the middle of shooting [The Masked Singer], we learnt a lot about protecting ourselves and others. Filming the grand final remotely – Osher [Günsberg] and Jackie O were in Sydney, Dave Hughes and I were in Melbourne and Urzila Carlson was in New Zealand – was mentally very difficult, but we wanted to finish it.

JF: Before home-schooling and The Masked Singer, you had approximately 10 careers. You’ve been an actor, pop star, author and fashion designer. How have you been able to be so flexible?
