Kids can be cute little snuggly angels for a hot minute and the next, a draining life force, especially now that we are on lockdown because of the Corona Virus pandemic. School was a wonderful 8-hour escape, but now you have to be their teacher, nanny, mother, and entertainer. The million-dollar question is, how are you planning to stay sane despite the mess, screams, accidents, and endless questions?
You don’t need expensive staff that will be used once and discarded, you also don’t need to complicate things when it comes to entertaining them. Just look at stuff laying around the house and make this a happy, learning time.
1 Science projects
Science is fun wrapped up in experiments and garnished with a bit of math and history. Science projects can be an easy learning and fun activity for the kids. You just have to do your homework to know the basics and be cautious to not cause a fire. You can:
• Study how different seeds are arranged in different fruits and explain to them why they are arranged in that way. You can also include the countries of origin for specific fruits. Kids like to chop and dice and they will love the delicious fruit juice you will make for them after the experiment. Ensure you maintain hygiene.
• Exploding volcanoes/rockets. Experiment using coke and mentos and see their reaction when it explodes. Then tell them why coke is the only type of soda that reacts with mentos.
• Show them how rain is made using hot water, ice cubes and a jar. (Evaporation and Condesation)
• Make paper planes and explain why they fly ( laws of aerodynamics.)
• Show them practical examples of parts of a flower or an insect.
