I think I have tried most of the diets out there while attempting to lose weight. The Keto diet tops them all as the most challenging because of tracking your calorie intake to ensure that you are within the calorie bracket of the diet.
A ketogenic diet is a high fat, low-carb diet. The body usually gets its energy by converting carbohydrates into glucose. So when you eat fewer carbs, your body goes into a metabolic state known as ketosis where it obtains fuel by burning fat - in the absence of carbohydrates. The liver turns the fat from the food you eat in the low carb diet into molecules known as ketones, and these become the alternative source of energy. As with all new diets, please consult your doctor before embarking on the keto diet especially if you are currently taking any medicine or have health-related challenges including high blood pressure and diabetes.
This diet will help you lose more weight in the initial months than other diets. This is because more calories are needed to burn and transform fat into energy compared to those required to convert carbohydrates into energy.
WHAT TO EAT
This is the hardest part of the diet. You have to say goodbye to all sugars, fast foods, any food high in calories, alcohol, most fruits and basically every form of carbohydrate. It is important to note that vegetables and some protein foods also have carbohydrates in them such as beans, peas, and yams.
