 Petitjean CDC

Good news is that Marc Petitjean’s long-awaited book, Petitjean CDC, has finally seen the light of day, and one of the first copies, hot off the press, was delivered to us recently for review. Readers may recall that we published a video a while back (still available on our website) featuring a teaser of the book, albeit in softcover version. Even then I was impressed with what I saw and likened the book to a classic such as The Fly Tier’s Benchside Reference, to my mind one of the best books on fly-tying techniques you can hope to find. It has become the gold standard for instructional tying books and remains as relevant today as when it was launched in 1998, a true classic. First glances at the new Petitjean book and I had the feeling that this could be something akin – a work of such importance that, if you are serious about tying, you simply cannot afford not to have it.

So it was with bated breath that we waited for the book’s arrival, to such an extent that, when it finally came, all other activities took a back seat. In hand, it is pretty hefty in its hardcover format, weighing more than 2kg and spanning nearly 500 pages. Apart from a few pages with only text, it is full colour throughout, with some very nice photographs of, among others, rivers, trout and grayling to give it a fishy feel.
