Meditation doesn’t have to be silent – as Nilufer Atik discovers…
When we think about meditating, most of us imagine sitting in a crossed-legged position and breathing deeply. This was certainly the only way I’d ever known how to reach a state of deep relaxation. Until, that is, I came across a new and very unusual way to attain inner peace, while browsing the internet one day. ‘Get away from the endless loop of your wandering mind’, the blurb on the web page teased.
Instead of quietly focusing on the breath and allowing thoughts to pass, participants of dynamic meditation (DM) are urged to jump around, yell, laugh, and even snort to attain inner peace, while blindfolded. It sounded bonkers, so I immediately signed up for a class in London, run by a company called Love Osho.
