When a family inhabits a home, their spirits and personalities, along with their tastes and preferences, permeate each space. This is especially true of the kitchen, where busy families congregate over shared meals and laughter. When Pamela Martin Johnston, senior interior designer at San Diego’s Jackson Design and Remodeling, started designing this Craftsman-style kitchen, she had this very image in her mind.
Alongside residential designer David Hall and interior stylist Karina Kmiotek-Ally, Pamela wove her client’s must-haves into this cheerful kitchen. She explains that the homeowner “travels frequently for work” and “has a young daughter with a busy school and activity schedule.” Pamela and her team headed into the 1937 bungalow located in San Diego’s Mission Hills area and set out to honor this family’s lifestyle through thoughtful kitchen features.
