The owner of this home in Newcastle has knocked her old galley kitchen and dining room into one to make room for her dream custom crafted scheme
Having lived with the previous layout of galley kitchen with adjacent dining room for 28 years, the owner decided it was time to make the change and create the open plan layout she’d always wanted. ‘The original kitchen was small and I always loved the idea of a more spacious, open layout so I started to research kitchens online to see what styles and designs appealed to me. I really liked the work of Wrights Design House; they have so many lovely displays in their showroom. There was one display in particular that I was really drawn to so that started the ball rolling.’
Not only designing the kitchen but also project managing from concept to completion, designer Tamsin Sturgeon looked after every aspect of the work carried out. ‘Tamsin was fantastic. I saw a design I liked in situ in the showroom and she explained how it could be adapted to work in my kitchen. Tamsin looked after everything for me, which was great; she sourced the builders, electricians and plumbers, organised the removal of the wall and the installation of the support beam. Every single detail was overseen by Tamsin, which was wonderful as she has the experience and the contacts.’
