Nisha Mathew Ghosh designs two very distinct yet community-oriented spaces, one is a training and research centre of a reputed hospital and the other a compact coworking space.
Community Research and Training Centre, Bangalore Baptist Hospital.
The medical practitioners at the community wing of the Bangalore Baptist Hospital engage with the lives of the people, maintain records, and build long term relationships through counselling, imparting financial advice and more. Their office space is a meeting space for field-planners, doctors, nurses, and researchers where systems are discussed and evaluated, and methodology and training is imparted.
The 4000 sq. ft. space on the 4th floor of the building assigned to the centre has beautiful green views towards the southern and eastern sides. “Conceptually the centre of the floor plate is carved out as a trapezoidal stepped transparent community space which represents the charitable core value of the organisation,” explains Nisha Mathew Ghosh of the Bangalore based Mathew and Ghosh Architects. This central area is treated as a darker, cosier space, transparent towards the main movement spine and always visible from different angles of the entire floor space through open chinks between planes.
Services are positioned along the side facing the highway to create a sound buffer in a non-airconditioned space.
