Trash into TREASURE

This is a fun project to keep you busy on a sunny weekend. And it will put your empty tins to good use!
TERESA CONWAY
Trash into TREASURE
There’s nothing more satisfying than creating something from scratch, particularly if you’re upcyling what would otherwise be consigned to the recycling box.

This herb trellis planter will make a great addition to a sunny balcony or patio. If given proper care, it will keep you well stocked with herbs that can be used for cooking, both inside and out. Choose a bright coat of paint and position your planter somewhere that can be easily accessed – so your kitchen herbs are never far from reach!

1 Measure and mark wooden strips so you have three 150cm lengths for the vertical bars, plus three 60cm bars.

2 Saw along the marked lines, keeping the strips steady and secure. Sand the cut edges to smooth them if sharp.

3 Paint your wooden strips. Choose a nice bright shade of outdoor paint and leave to dry completely.
