Effed Up At A Colleague's Party?

Picture this: You’re invited to your colleague’s party and you’re excited to go to her place and bond with the girls! But after a couple of drinks your co-worker’s cousin, who you’ve never noticed before, suddenly seems very attractive under the dim lights. You then go on to make the mistake of making out with him. Uh-oh. Your colleague finds out and it doesn’t sit very well with her and an argument breaks out. And while you’d like to forget this all happened, you’ve still got to work with her making the whole thing awkward af!

Sounds familiar? No doubt, other factors will be at play that contributes towards the whole situation. However, getting a read on a room with people you’ve just met or only interact with on a professional level is vital. Here are a few more tips on how to avoid situations like this, as well as a few nuggets on how you can bury the hatchet.

Prevention Is Always Best

It’s always best to be prepared and know yourself before you go to a party with your coworkers.

Get to know your alcohol alter-ego

Alcohol is to blame? You can’t really use this as an excuse after things go south because that’ll make you come off as someone irresponsible. Knowing your alcohol limit is imperative. It is also good to know which alcohols bring out the worst in you. Hard liquors like arrack, even when mixed as a cocktail can be quite strong because the effect lasts for long. Also, if you’re a newbie in the alcohol department it’s always best that you take things slow. Don’t try new drinks or have too many just because you want to mingle with the crowd.
