Finding A Place For Everyone At Your Wedding
Cosmopolitan Sri Lanka|May 2018

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, your nearest and dearest can really make or break your big day. When planning your wedding, you and lover boy need to ensure that all the key players (think: parents, siblings, in-laws, BFFs, bridesmaids, groomsmen etc) don’t feel left out. So, it’s vital that the two of you give each of them something to do to make them feel important. Here are a few things you can delegate to ensure no toes are stepped on and everything runs smoothly.

Master of Ceremonies

Got someone who speaks well in your family or friend circle? Then make her (or him) your MC for the evening. All you have to do is give her the agenda (maybe include a few fun nuggets of information you’d like said) and she’ll do the rest.

IDEAL FOR: A close friend, sibling, siblings-in-law, cousin or fun aunt/ uncle.

Officiate Vows

Aside from any religious ceremonies, if you and boo are keen to say your own vows (which I totally recommend: It’s not just cute, but also super romantic), then you’ll need someone to officiate it. You can always get your MC to announce the proceedings, but if you want someone to cue the both of you as you go (think: ‘The couple will now say their vows’ and ‘You may now exchange rings and kiss the bride’), consider asking someone to do just this.

IDEAL FOR: Older sibling, cousin or aunt/ uncle. No qualifications required!

Perform Away

Need to jazz up the evening? If you have a close pal or fam who has great vocals, can play an instrument or is even a killer standup comedian, put them up on stage. They can wow the crowd with their skills while making your wedding that much more memorable. Plus, they’ll feel very special for being asked to perform on your big day.

IDEAL FOR: Anyone, really!
