What we refer to as “avocado” is the fruit of the avocado tree, called Persea Americana that has originated in South Central Mexico. The fruit that’s taken the world by storm, avocados are native to Mexico that thrives in plentiful of sunshine and warm temperatures. They are fast-growing trees that may even grow upto 80 feet tall. Usually three types of avocados are found, named after their regions – Mexican type with the creamiest taste, West Indian type which grows to the largest size, and lastly the Guatemalan type that falls midway between good oil content and size. When it comes to overall healthy foods, avocado reigns supreme. This superfood is loaded with health benefits and definitely makes the list of fruits that reduce stress and anxiety.
Although the fruit is not a part of the mainstream Indian diet, it has certainly made its way to the hearts and diets of the millennials. You might have seen your favourite celebrities drooling over avocado toasts, smoothies, and guacamole as a part of their regular diets. But is it really worth the hype and the price tag that comes along?
Avocados are not just a passing trend. They actually are a storehouse of nutrients and all things healthy.
