Taylor Never Imagined A Simple Item Would Keep Her Baby Girl Alive
A miracle baby born 16 weeks premature who had to be incubated in a sandwich bag has beaten the odds to celebrate her first birthday.
Amina Dobson was so small when she was born in February last year that doctors had to place her in a zip-lock bag to keep her warm and mimic the feeling of a womb.
Amina’s mother, Taylor, 24, had been told she had an “incompetent cervix” and prepared for the likelihood her baby would be born premature. “The doctor told me my cervix is very short and it’s not doing well holding the weight of the baby,” Taylor said.
“At 24 weeks and six days into my pregnancy, I began getting symptoms of labour. They found an undetected infection and realised the baby had to be delivered.”
