The Ambassador of Georgia to India, His Excellency Archil Dzuliashvili, talks about what makes this country at the crossroads of Europe and Asia one of the must-visit destinations of 2017
What is the USP of Georgia? What makes it one of the hottest destinations of the year?
In the modern world, every one of us wants to explore new destinations. Georgia may not be a big country but we have many things to offer travellers. Ours is an ancient culture and there are certain things that are unique to Georgia. We have over 2,000 mineral springs and over 25 percent of Georgia’s territory lies within protected national parks. There are more than 12,000 historical and cultural monuments, four of which are recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Georgia is also one of the oldest wine regions of the world and winemaking is an intrinsic part of our culture. We have over 500 varieties of grapes today, but the oldest archaeological remains related to grape seeds and winemaking, dating back almost 8,000 years, have been found in Georgia. With so many diverse natural and cultural offerings, Georgia is becoming a preferred destination for international travellers.
How has the tourist inflow to Georgia been in the last couple of years?
