In year 1999 I did my first wildlife camp at Koyana Wildlife Sanctuary.
Please tell us more about yourself. How did you get into photography?
I have a post-graduate degree in electronics and am currently work with TIBCO Software Ltd., Pune, India, as Senior IT Manager.
In year 1999 I did my first wildlife camp at Koyana Wildlife Sanctuary. Since then birdwatching became a primary hobby. It soon tuned into photography when I purchased my first Panasonic point-and-shoot camera. It took almost 2 years for me to upgrade to my first D-SLR. In 2004, I got a Canon EOS 20D and a 70-300mm lens and that kick-started my passion for wildlife photography. Now, photography is much more than a hobby to me! Roaming in the wild, observing/photographing the denizens of the natural world gives me immense pleasure.
How do you decide where to travel for your next wildlife photo adventure? How do you plan it? Though some photo trips are impromptu, most others need to be planned well in advance.
Based on the target species (a specific bird or mammal) the destination and season is finalised. There are other important factors which need to be considered - taking time off from the office, availability of accommodation, availability of local guide and mode of transportation.
How much importance do you place on good equipment?
