5 Things You Didn't Know About Your Vagina
The Singapore Women's Weekly
|December 2017
This amazing body part is a key focal point in a woman’s anatomy, but how much do you really know about it?
-
1 Our vagina ages just like the rest of our body. In the same way as our skin loses elasticity through the years, the vagina does the same. After menopause, when there is less estrogen in the body, the vagina gradually becomes paler due to reduced blood supply, as well as flatter and less stretchy.
2 The vagina is the most elastic part of the body. But sometimes vaginal muscles can weaken to a point where surgery may be an option. This usually happens after a woman gives birth vaginally, which stretches out the tissues. They then shrink back down, but not to where they were before.
