One-person backpacking tents traditionally have a tiny porch that is just big enough to store a pair of boots and a rucksack but little else.
But on extended trips in poor weather, a bit more elbow room is often welcome to make it easier to strip off waterproofs, as well as stretch out and relax. The answer could be the MSR Hubba Tour 1, which has a small one-person inner tent plus a huge extended porch. So you get additional storage space without the weight of an extended – and unnecessary – inner tent.
The Hubba Tour 1 is actually designed to house a bicycle under its extended porch, which is 1.47m long, and is being marketed as a bicycle touring tent, hence the name. However, I think it also offers just as many benefits to non-biking lone walkers who just want more space than a normal one-person tent can offer for multi-day trips in foul weather.
