As the pet grooming industry grows in India, companies are focusing on offering added services.
The pet care market in India is all set to boom. Market research by Business Wire indicates that the pet care industry is set to grow by a compounded annual growth rate of more than 20 per cent in the forecasted period FY 2017-18 to FY 2021-22. The main reasons behind this growth have been identified as double income households, change in lifestyle, urbanisation and increasing pet ownership. Busy urban professionals frequently keep pets in order to stave off loneliness and enjoy the benefits of a companion animal.

Scoopy Scrubs, one of the largest pet care providers in the country was started almost 15 years ago and has grown to more than 34 outlets in this period. “When we started, Delhi NCR had four to five pet shops and there were even fewer stores in India. Professional services were lacking in the pet grooming industry and most people thought grooming involved only haircuts and washing. Grooming is about breed specific styling. One particular breed of dog can have so many different styles and there international standards as well. We aim to follow the best practices and are unique in the sheer range of our offerings,” says Sanjeev Kumar, Founder of Scoopy Scrubs.
