Coronavirus hero Captain Tom Moore is in the running to be named Britain’s Sports Personality of the Year.
The 99-year-old war veteran captured the nation’s hearts after raising more than £23million for the NHS by completing laps of his garden with a walking frame.
And with so many sporting events scrapped because of the crisis, Brits now want Tom’s achievement to be recognized instead.
One of hundreds of fans on Twitter demanding he be nominated said: “Captain Moore should be honoured for showing the true meaning of grit, spirit, determination and class and giving kids a true hero to aspire to. 100% he should get the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.”
