NEARLY 500 jobs are at risk after a string of Aer Lingus regional fights were pulled with their operator going into liquidation.

Stobart Air – which operates a number of routes to the UK – announced yesterday it was ending its contract with the national airline.

A total of 480 jobs could be affected with scheduled flights from Dublin and Belfast scrapped.

The move could also spell the end for direct air links from Dublin to Donegal and Kerry Forsa trade union, which represents 120 cabin crew and pilots with the airline, called on the Government to “wake up” to the ongoing aviation sector crisis.
