Party plea to shut down secret Facebook group branded ‘toxic’

SINN Fein’s housing spokesman Eoin O Broin said yesterday his party has no control over a “toxic” social media page set up in its name.

A fresh row has erupted over a “secret” Facebook group whose users spout bitter tirades and abuse using obscene language at political opponents.

The page was set up seven years ago and operated as a private group until last summer when Sinn Fein became aware of it and asked for it to be taken down.
