CORONAVIRUS infection rates continue to fall sharply in all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester.
A total of 41,361 people tested positive for Covid across the region in the week which ended January 11.
That’s 28,414 cases fewer than the previous week, a 41 per cent fall, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 1,458.6 cases per 100,000 people.
The national average is 1,271.5.
Rochdale, where there are 1592.2 cases per 100,000 people, continues to have the highest infection rate in Greater Manchester.
Stockport, where the rate is 1,320.2 cases per 100,000 people, has the lowest.
HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS
In the week ending January 9, a total of 1,133 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19.
That’s two more than the week before.
On Tuesday, January 11, there were 51 mechanical ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is six more than a week earlier.
