UK Prefers Indian Institutions For Collaborative Research

British universities feel that collaborative research work with Indian institutions yielded much better results than collaborative work with some top institutions of the world like the Harvard.

Steve Smith, Chair, Universities UK International, cited a discussion with the University of Birmingham officials, who had revealed that their research collaboration with Harvard produced 5.5 times of the world average outcome while it was 9.8 times with an Indian institution.

“We strongly feel Indian and UK research capacity together can make a huge difference,” Prof. Smith told The Hindu in an interaction here. He felt that even quality universities can’t work in isolation and find solutions. Indian scientists and Indian institutions have so much to offer and that is the big driving force, he said, explaining the purpose of the visit.
