BRYCE MAKES FLYING START

BRYCE HEGARTY’S boot proved crucial in his first start for the club at fly-half as LEICESTER beat SALE 32-23 in the Premiership Rugby Cup.

But he was taken off early in the second half after suffering a knock on a day of mixed fortunes for the Australian.

Sale won the trophy in 2019-20, with the tournament not played last season due to the pandemic, but Hegarty put over five penalties and a conversion as the Premiership leaders triumphed.

Yet they had to withstand a Sharks fightback until a try from Guy Porter.
