Beauty queen, soldier, action hero, mother – Gal Gadot shows us how she handles it all like a real Wonder Woman.
The year started with the inauguration of Donald Trump. Months later, the disturbing revelations about Harvey Weinstein surfaced, sparking Hollywood to purge itself of sexual predators. In the midst of the shocking news, many strong, positive female voices rang out, setting the tone for a fresh wave of feminist resistance. Among them was the summer blockbuster, Wonder Woman. After 76 years since her debut, it was almost as if the world needed her as a symbol of feminism and its ideals again. Led by director Patty Jenkins, the estrogen-fuelled Wonder Woman went on to gross more than $800 million over the summer, breaking records and winning praise from critics while hitting the zeitgeist square in the chest.
At the heart of the mad frenzy is Gal Gadot (pronounced ga-dott), who played the titular lasso wielding warrior princess Diana. Despite being a relatively unknown actress, Gal won the coveted role thanks to her undisputable charm and killer action chops. Not to mention, the Israeli is kind of a superhero in her own right. Not only is she a mother to two girls, she’s also an ex-military combat instructor, Miss Israel winner, and a former law student. A beauty queen, soldier, and mother with a sharp legal mind? That sure sounds like Wonder Woman to us!
