New 180-400mm Tele-Zoom From Nikon

NIKON has launched its first DSLR lens with a built-in 1.4x teleconverter.

The focal range of the AF-S Nikkor 180-400mm f/4 TC1.4 flED VR can be extended from 180-400mm f/4 to 252-560mm at f/5.6 at the flick of switch, but you sacrifice a stop along the way.

If mounting the lens on one of Nikon’s APS-C cameras, such as the D500, the equivalent full reach of the lens is 840mm. Photographers can activate the converter without having to take their eye from the camera’s viewfinder, thanks to a conveniently located extender switch.
