Capture light trails

About five years ago, I picked up my first DSLR, and haven’t put it down since. I became interested in long-exposure photography because I see it as a real challenge. I love the build-up of anticipation, not fully knowing what will show up on the rear screen of my camera as the shot is being taken.

This is certainly the case when light trails are involved. The height, width and speed of a vehicle will all have an effect on the end result, and this challenge is what continues to keep me coming back for more. I chose this location as it’s instantly recognisable for many, but I wanted to add my own twist with a composition that’s different to the norm. Many photographs show the whole bridge and while that is a beautiful image, I wanted to focus closer and capture the details of the brickwork and light trails.
