Quick start guide
India has a market for expensive flagship phones, but Google’s Pixel phones somehow never fit the equation. Despite the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL being good phones, they failed to make an impact on customers, mainly due to the richer and premium looking devices from Samsung and Apple. Google instead started focussing on the midrange with the Pixel 3a duo, which fared better than its top-end siblings. Google is now trying the same strategy with the Pixel 4a. To keep things simple, the Pixel 4a comes in one size and one variant and a pocket-friendly price tag that helps it to get noticed. But is the only new Pixel in India enough, when other brands are launching phones left, right and centre? Let’s find out.
Design and Build Quality
The Pixel 3a is unlike any other competitive phone in the market when it comes to physical appearances. It loses the thick bezel around the display and instead goes for a display with a hole-punch selfie camera, or as Google calls it, “transmissive hole”. The decision to go with such a display works in Google’s favour because it helps to keep the phone’s size down and at the same time, have a larger display.
