Veteran Flames forward is on pace for his best season to date

A decade ago, Michael Frolik was a promising young prospect that had been selected 10th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers. Most fans outside of the Czech Republic knew little about his potential at that point, but over time, he has proven to be a reliable talent at the pro level and a veteran presence looking to help the Calgary Flames return to playoff action.

Off to a decent start in 2016-17 with nine points over his first 14 appearances, he was sharing the league lead for shorthanded goals with two to his credit. Last season, he hit the 15-goal mark for the fifth time in his career and if he keeps up his current pace, could crack 20 for the first time since his sophomore season.

Going back to Frolik’s junion days, he starred for his local HC Kladno team before being drafted and was looking to follow in the footsteps of his childhood hero.
