The Indian Premier League (IPL) has emerged as one of the significant cricketing tournaments in the world after India won the inaugural edition of the ICC T20 World Cup back in 2007. IPL’s concept has completely changed how cricket is being perceived nowadays. The quality of cricket has consistently improved. Moreover, most players from around the world want to play and feature in the cash-rich. In fact, players from several associate nations have managed to attract interest from franchises. Albeit, there are certain players who have featured in the IPL and were part of teams but not a lot of people know about it. So, here are 7 overseas players who you never know were a part of certain IPL teams:
DAMIEN MARTYN – RAJASTHAN ROYALS (RR)
Damien Martyn was one of Australia’s most reliable batsmen through the late 1990s and early 2000s. He was a headache to the opposition, making batting look ridiculously easy. However, he played just 6 T20 games in his career despite scoring 175 runs at a strike-rate of nearly 150 in those games. Interestingly, in IPL 2010, Damien was bought by Rajasthan Royals for his base price of $100,000. Astonishingly, Damien had announced his retirement from international cricket after the 2007 ICC World Cup. Martyn played just one game for RR and warmed the bench for the rest of the season. In RR’s 10th match of the season, which was against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Martyn scored a sluggish 24-ball 19. That was his one and only IPL game and was also his last T20 game as well.
2. CALLUM FERGUSON – PUNE WARRIORS INDIA (PWI)
