If you are a subscriber to good omens or simply like the luck of the Irish, don’t be surprised to see Shane Lowry seal a fairytale year at Jumeirah Golf Estates on November 24. It may be mere coincidence, but three of the last five Race to Dubai champions have been crowned in the same year they captured the Claret Jug: Rory McIlroy at Royal Liverpool in 2014, Henrik Stenson at Royal Troon in 2016 and Francesco Molinari at Carnoustie last year. Like Stenson and Molinari, Lowry’s triumph at Royal Portrush in July was a maiden major too.
Lowry importantly brings recent desert golf pedigree to JGE for the climax to the European Tour season, the 11th DP World Tour Championship, as well as the title of the “Champion Golfer of the Year”.

AMATEURS OFTEN STAND OVER THE BALL with their feet too wide apart. I understand the appeal—they want to feel more stable throughout the swing, and a wider stance seems a logical way to achieve that.
