Mouton Mountain Marriage

MOUNTAIN LOVING LOVERS

Clare had the far-out idea of getting married on a mountaintop somewhere for a while, but we never thought it was a possibility.

When we actually sat down and started talking about it, the idea of getting married indoors somewhere, we realised it just wasn’t who we are. The more we thought about it, the more it made sense to get married on a mountain. And it would have to be the highest in George – Cradock Peak – also the highest peak in the Outeniqua Mountains.

Trail running and being in the mountains go hand in hand for us, and is a part of who we are.

We share this with an amazing Garden Route trail running community here in George. I started GTR, a community based trail running group, in 2010 to promote the sport and getting people out into the mountains. It is a passion of ours. We met at a trail run a few years ago.

A DAY TO REMEMBER

We didn’t sleep much the night before, and by 3am we were on our phones and looking at the weather! After realising it was going to be cold and wet outside, we got up and got going!

We met up with the rest of our friends at Virgin Active and piled into various 4x4s to drive to the start. It was cold out, but we were excited, and the climb up the mountain was amazing!

Our friends made a wedding page in the Cradock Peak sign-in book and filled it with messages. It meant a lot to us.
