From boy to man, it has been a remarkable rise for Harry Kane in the world of football over the last 10 years. We take a look back through the decade with the frontman from his early days in his Spurs shirt to what followed and then look ahead to what is on the horizon for the England international in the 2020s.

HARRY'S

Harry Kane remembers his first game of this decade well.

He was just 16 years old at the time, but he was leading a Spurs side out of the White Hart Lane tunnel as captain. This was not a first team game though; those days were still to come for Harry. Instead, it was an FA Youth Cup tie against Portsmouth on 11 January, 2010 (pictured above).

Our youngsters dominated that encounter but were unable to find a way past Pompey and ultimately exited the competition following a 1-0 defeat, but it was an experience that gripped our number 10 as it gave him a taste of our special, historic old ground and what he could potentially achieve with a few more years of hard graft.

“I remember that first game, playing at the Lane, I think it was one of the first few rounds of the competition,” he recalled about how his decade began.

“We had a great team at the time so there was a lot of expectation on us to do well. I remember walking out the tunnel and onto the pitch for the first time, thinking ‘I want to do this week in, week out’. The result didn’t go our way that night, we ended up losing and going out which was disappointing, but to be on that pitch and to experience playing in that stadium was pretty special.”

He smiled: “Obviously I went on to play there quite a few times and score quite a few goals so there have been a few better nights there than that defeat!”

Even though that game was almost 10 years ago, Harry still remembers it like it was yesterday, but that is not something that is limited to just this particular game. He can recall games, goals and moments from throughout his career, the good and the bad. He is a man that knows his own history.
