Alex Smith basically said goodbye in an interview with GQ magazine. Former president Bruce Allen was accused in court documents of essentially undermining owner Dan Snyder. There are rumors of trillionaire Jeff Bezos wanting to buy the team. There was an undisclosed settlement between the team and past cheerleaders over alleged improper videos. Meanwhile, the current cheerleading squad has been put on hold. Snyder is suing an Indian media company for libel and his minority partners from selling 40 percent of the team. The NFL is finishing its investigation over sexual harassment allegations in the front office.
That’s just the highlights. Now, the good news is the football side of things hasn’t looked this good ever during Snyder’s 22-year ownership. Coach Ron Rivera did a great job managing a 7-9 season to win the NFC East and give eventual Super Bowl winner Tampa Bay its toughest postseason challenge. Rivera should have been named Coach of the Year. And, his cancer scans came back clean in late January.
