Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1

A luxurious convertible that’s packed with intelligent features and top-quality components
Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1

PRICE Range starts at £1,304 (£1,565 inc VAT) from dell.co.uk

Of all the 2-in-1 convertibles in this group test, the Latitude 9420 2-in-1 is the Rolls-Royce. And we aren’t simply referring to its price: the all-metal chassis gives this laptop an air of solidity that lifts it above rivals. Most laptop lids wobble when you twist them, for instance, but the 9420 is, like a certain prime minister of yore, not for turning.

Considering this solid construction it’s surprising to find that the Latitude 9420 is a few grams lighter than the Acer TravelMate Spin P4. What’s more, its battery life is excellent: we saw results of 15hrs 11mins in idle, 10hrs 45mins in our video-rundown test and exactly 11hrs in office tasks, and when you do need to recharge the supplied USB-C supply can whack it up to 80% in 40 minutes.

Most of the connectors are on the left-hand side, with an HDMI port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, microSD card slot and 3.5mm jack all squeezed into an edge that – as with all the Latitude’s edges – has been buffed into a shiny, stylish finish. The obvious absentee is an RJ-45 network connector, but compensation comes in the Wi-Fi 6E radio. The sole USB-A port sits on the right, where its only company is a vent for the cooling system.
