The Art of Craft
An exhibition celebrating the art and craft professions is being played out at the Palais de Tokyo along with the support they have received from the Fondation Bettencourt Schueller over the past 20 years offering a discovery of craft professions like glassmaking, tapestry weaving and toolmaking. The show, entitled L’Esprit commence et finit au bout des doigts. (Intelligence Begins and Ends at the Fingertips), brings together over 150 works including a selection emanating from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, France’s national academy of fine arts, dating from the 15th century to the present, evoking the hand. The exhibition includes a sequence of photographs devoted to the various workshops offering an insight into how the craftsmen work while another section presents the works of the recipients of the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for the Intelligence of the Hand over the past two decades, including cabinet makers, ceramic craftsmen, and feather artists. - P.V.
Showing from October 16th through to November 10th 13 ave du Président Wilson (16th), 01 81 97 35 88
