Forget extreme detoxes and long, boring workouts. Celeb PT Louise Parker has a new way to help you get your best body yet in just 30 minutes
‘Have you ever wished you could press a reset button and lean towards a life of great habits and health?’ asks Louise Parker, Founder of The Louise Parker Method and author of new book The 6-Week Programme (out December 27; Mitchell Beazley, £20), which is a six-week plan based around her 'four pillars of health': eating beautifully, working out intelligently, thinking successfully and living well. ‘My Method is now 22 years old and what I’ve learnt through my experience of working with thousands of clients and writing three books is that losing weight, toning your body and having the energy to truly embrace life shouldn’t be painful; if you’re consistent and smart, it will become part of you, not something that you’re doing.’
Calorie burners
Famous for getting the Duchess of Cambridge back in shape following the birth of Prince George, Louise creates workouts that give the best bang for your buck, focusing on moves that use multiple large-muscle groups (think core, back, upper body and lower body) at the same time. ‘The workouts are snappy and fast-paced, so you’re far more likely to be consistent with them, which leads effortlessly to results,’ she says.
‘Conditioning and toning your body with high repetitions using just your body weight will also elevate your heart rate, which means you’ll be getting a cardio workout, too.’ This means you’ll benefit from the ‘after-burn’ effect (more technically known as ‘excess post-exercise oxygen consumption’ or EPOC), she adds. ‘This is much more pronounced after strengthbased sessions compared to steady-state cardio alone, so you’ll be burning more calories, even when you’re resting!’ Sounds good to us.
