TRAVEL IDEAS FOR WHEN LIFE IS BACK TO NORMAL
Why should you go?
Picturesquely perched on the banks of the winding Garonne river is the delightful French city of Toulouse. Peach-shaded churches and terracotta rooftops have earned Toulouse the nickname ‘La Ville Rose’ (The Pink City), and after a weekend strolling its charming cobbled streets, you’ll have rose-tinted memories to match!
Where to stay
Toulouse is a joy to explore and the best area to stay is the city’s Vieux Quartier (Old Quarter). Boutiques and quaint cafes along narrow pedestrian streets wend their way between leafy squares and the city’s most historic sights.
At its heart is Place du Capitole, Toulouse’s elegant main square, where locals in cafes overlook the 18th-century Théâtre du Capitole, one of France’s most renowned opera houses. Just a stone’s throw from the square is the Hôtel des Arts, a small but stylish boutique hotel with 11 uniquely-styled rooms, ideal for a weekend base.
