Growing old is a daunting process for many women to face, and TV legend Sherrie Hewson is no different. After a turbulent year following the tragic death of her brother Brett, and the knock-on effect of the global pandemic, Sherrie – now 70 – admits it was time to treat herself. So what could be better than a non-invasive facelift, in a bid to battle her cripplingly low self-esteem?
Having dabbled with fillers in the past, the actor and former Loose Women panellist reveals why she made the shock decision that upset her daughter Keeley, and how she’s trying to overcome her confidence issues to live life to the full…
Tell us about your facelift…
It’s called the ‘love handle facelift’ and it involved removing fat from my hips and stomach, which was combined with my blood to release stem cells from the fat. It wasn’t invasive – there was no knife involved.
Why did you decide to do it?
When you get to a certain age, your face empties and you’re left with a skeleton face. In the past, I’ve had lots of things, such as fillers. It’s just to give yourself something so that when you look in the mirror you don’t get scared. But I’ve always looked startled and it’s not attractive.
Have you always struggled with confidence?
