WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?

Staring at another negative pregnancy test, I felt my heart drop. ‘Why isn’t it happening for us?’ I asked my partner Michael, then 29. It was September 2018 and we’d been trying for a baby for two years. I’d suffered miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies, and I was running out of patience. I already had a son, Zach, then five, and I wanted nothing more than to give him a little brother or sister.

‘You’ve got polycystic ovary syndrome,’ a doctor had told me in 2015. I was gutted, but never thought it would stop me having the huge family of my dreams. Michael was sent for tests, too, but they came back clear.

WEDDING BELLS

When the doctors suggested we try IVF, Michael and I both agreed we’d give it a go. Worried about the stress of the process, we decided to take a break before starting the treatment.
