It’s thought there are now around 600,000 vegans in the UK, which is one per cent of the population. So if you’re tempted to join them, or just want a break from meat after that Christmas indulgence, Veganuary is a good place to start.
Here’s everything you need to know.
What is Veganuary?
It started as a charity project in 2014 to encourage people to give up animal products for the month of January. Just 3,000 people took part back then, but with each successive year the numbers kept growing. In 2020, a whopping 400,000 signed the pledge and 2021 looks set to be even bigger.
