The real reason the Sussexes won’t have their titles stripped…

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex repeatedly lob missiles across the Atlantic Ocean at the House of Windsor, even more senior palace officials are said to be scratching their heads over why the couple have not been stripped of their titles.

After all, the pair used some of the US’ most powerful mediums – including their Oprah Winfrey special, and Spotify and Apple TV – to issue scathing public statements seemingly designed to shake Buckingham Palace to its core.

Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, who now live in Montecito, California, have also stoked controversy by wading into American politics using their titles.

But no matter how loud the calls have come – both from inside the palace, as well as public polls – to strip the couple’s dukedom, the palace has responded with stony silence.

And now, an insider tells Woman’s Day exclusively that the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and even Duchess Kate are “reticent to take such drastic action, because they don’t want to provoke the Sussexes even more”.

The source says, “This is a critical time for relations between the Sussexes and the palace. Harry is in the final stages of writing his memoir, which everyone worries is being done with a poison pen. He knows that the royals rarely issue detailed public statements on anything. The fear is that if their titles are stripped, Harry will go to town on the palace, knowing their hands will be tied.”

According to an insider close to the Sussexes in California, Harry has files “inches thick” ready for print.
