There are always news reports every day to confirm how it seems like no place is safe for them, nor outside, and not even their own homes.

The recent case shows the extreme level of fear and feeling of insecurity faced by women in the country almost daily.

The police arrested an 81-year-old man from Noida for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl for over seven years. The girl's family had sent their daughter to an old man's house to study and live.

Initially, she was hesitant to file a complaint, but then she gathered courage and collected some visual evidence of the act and went to the police.

This incident, once again, shows the worst side of humanity.

From time to time, some such incidents keep surfacing, which force us to think that what the condition of humans is.

But there is an important difference between the rape we understand in the ordinary verbal sense and the kind of rape the old man committed.

What this man did is called 'Digital Rape'. Digital rape is not a new term, but it remains a topic of discussion on the internet as most people are unaware of it. Many people think that the phrase 'digital rape' refers to accusing someone of their identity on a digital platform or considering sharing nude photos or videos on a digital platform without the owner's consent.

Not knowing the real term, they often refer to it as digital abuse.

To understand the sensitivity of this topic, we need to know the exact meaning of digital rape.

Digital rape is a term used to categorise rape cases. However, the word refers to when a person uses his non-sexual part such as a finger, thumb, or any other part of the body inside another person's private parts without consent.
