A FABULOUS FORAY

A name that needs no introduction, Neelam Kothari's grand step into the world of interior design made news across the nation. Backed by an awe-inspiring multidisciplinary career, her fabulous foray into design came on the heels of her partnership with Behzad Kharas of the imminent BNK Group. And thus, LINK BNK, was born - a collaborative brainchild of the two and a luxury interiors firm that epitomises elegance above all, making luxury interior design accessible to all.

Neelam and Behzad walked into the interview with an air that perfectly conveyed this ethos of their design firm. Neelam, dressed in her signature blues and Behzad, armed with his warm smile, dived head-first into a candid conversation with the Editor, Sumisha Gilotra. Read on for an engrossing insight into their work, culminating with a riveting rapid fire round!

Sumisha Gilotra: Tell us about your design journey. How did this collaboration come about and how do you both manage your roles in the design process?

Neelam Kothari: Behzad and I have been friends since a long time now. And every time I'd meet him, he would say, "Neelam, you should get into interiors." I was hesitant at first, my plate was full, but he pushed me to test the waters. Frankly speaking, it was a trial to find out whether I enjoyed the whole process - and I absolutely loved it. Being a designer and seeing everything come together, be it colours, be it stories, I enjoyed every bit of that journey.

Behzad Kharas: The collaboration between us grew and evolved during the first project. I am the guy who details and draws, while she is the one who ideates and gives an understanding of colour and proportion. Aesthetics and technicals come together, as we bounce ideas off each other, and the design evolves from there.
