When Canadian creative agency The Plus Company and Cossette decided to transition from a co-working structure to a single downtown office, their approach had multiple layers. One key challenge was motivating remote workers to return to the office. However, the Plus Company and Cossette and its design consultant, LAAB Architecture, agreed that they needed to go beyond trendy design features and the ubiquitous foosball table.
INFUSING FRESH IDEAS
Taking over Shopify’s former office space, they sought a unique draw. Their shared focus on UX design provided the key insight. The common goal became designing the workplace around staff experience and culture, rather than solely from upper management’s perspective. This approach naturally informed the new layout.
The result is a workplace environment crafted around the agency’s work culture and ethos. Spaces were organised around the creative vocation’s requirements, prioritising functionality to enhance team creativity. To achieve this, each team received customised workspaces tailored to their business model, habits, and practices.
